Subtle Monument by BlackCarrionRose Subtle Monument by BlackCarrionRose
One of Munich's many subtle monuments. This golden trail was laid to mark a small resistance movement that took place shortly after the Nazis began rising to power. In order to avoid a forced salute to a plaque hanging on a nearby wall, citizens would turn down this small alley in order to reach their destination. Once the Nazi's caught wind of what was going on, they began to take the names of any who walked this alley and find and arrest/kill them.

If you saw this alley in Munich, there would be no signs or notification of why these bricks are there, you'd have to find the information in a book or get it from your tour guide (which I did), so that's why I'm telling you what it is here.

Aha, I love it. Copper/brass in the ground is awfully romantic. There's a strain of it in Boston to the same affect that I love walking over. Nice sheen.

Interesting story, and I love the framing and angle. Love the colour drain, leaving the gold as a hint to the past.

Great story behind it... and the contrast is really nice... did you consider straightening the image? (not always important and sometimes undesirable but in this case it might be more relaxed)

It is a great monument, just wish there was something there to explain it so people just don't pass it by.

Straightening? It is straight :? The golden line is curved like that.
